Design Team Leader

Manages and directs multidisciplinary design engineering teams in the development of complex and simple medical devices. Projects frequently involve design and testing of medical diagnostic or treatment systems requiring application of electrical, mechanical, industrial, software, and, in some instances, disposables engineering, all with inherent inclusion of design for manufacturability.

Position combines project management and systems engineering and requires skills in writing, editing, and overseeing the development of design control documentation. Aubrey Group is IP vigilant; Design Team Leaders are expected to identify potential intellectual property opportunities and participate in their documentation. Aubrey Group also offers regulatory services for CE marking and FDA submissions and support of these activities is one of the responsibilities of Design Team Leaders and their project teams. Demonstrated skill in bringing projects in on time and within budget with due consideration of changes in scope is key.

Ability to effectively interact with prospects, clients, and team members is critical. Excellent verbal and writing communications skills required. There will be extensive interface and interaction with prospects and clients. One of the functions of the Design Team Leader is to function as a voice of the client. Position involves participation in business development including writing proposals and estimating costs and schedule.

For this recruitment, we desire to hire a Design Team Leader with strong software engineering experience, including management of software projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering being sought, but electrical or mechanical engineering degrees will be considered. Master’s or doctoral degree preferred
  • At least 8 years of experience in electromechanical medical system design
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management
  • Background in IEC 60601-1, EMC, and medical system requirements
  • Must have broad experience in systems involving electrical, mechanical, and software engineering
  • Able to apply general principles of physics and engineering in solving complex medical and engineering problems
